At Jefferson College, we'll meet you where you're at. Didn't finish high school? We'll connect you with our Adult Education and Literacy program to get you working towards your high school equivalency. Not sure that a college credit program is the right path for you? Chat with Workforce and Employment Services to discuss short-term training options. Already have some college credit? Send your transcripts to admissions@jeffco.edu and we'll help you determine what applies to your goals. Completed an apprenticeship or other certification? Learn more about the Credit for Prior Learning process. We have something for everyone, and we'll help you find it!
We know that coming back to school can be intimidating. At Jefferson College, there are resources and support services to help you every step of the way. The Admissions team or your academic advisor are great places to start. We can connect you with the Academic Success Center, the Accessibility Resource Office, or peer tutoring. If academics are under control but you could use some help outside of school, we also provide counseling or career coaching/development. We're here to equip you with all the tools and guidance necessary to achieve your goals.
Finding the time to work, attend classes, take care of children, study, and sleep -- all in a 24-hour day -- can feel impossible for busy adult learners. That's why Jefferson College takes pride in offering flexible schedules, applied science degree and certificate options that take you straight from the classroom to a career, partnerships with four-year universities that allow you to continue your education, and many online and hybrid options. We are committed to your academic success, regardless of your end goal.
Most students worry about whether they can afford a college education; adult learners are no different. Those with children or other family members to care for may find it especially difficult to pay for their education. At Jefferson College, one of the most cost-effective choices among Missouri colleges and universities, we offer an outstanding value and many financial assistance opportunities. In addition to federal and state grants, we offer many Jefferson College specific scholarships. We also encourage you to search the web for additional resources created just for adult learners.
Let’s face it - adult students can face many obstacles! Jefferson College is committed to providing you with a welcoming and supportive environment. You can get to know other adult students by joining a student group. If you are concerned about childcare, we have you covered! With Jefferson College’s Early Childhood Center, both you and your child can be on campus at the same time. If you need a job while attending school, contact Workforce and Employment Services for help updating your resume, networking, and employment opportunities.
