General ATS Questions
Eleven high schools in Jefferson County, along with home-schooled students, send students to ATS.
ATS offers 14 Career and Technical Education programs.
Admissions decisions are made collaboratively by ATS administration, faculty, and the student’s sending high school.
Admission requirements vary by program and are based on career-specific standards. Admissions teams review each student’s grades, attendance, behavior, coursework, and other relevant information.

Students will be notified through their school counselor and an acceptance letter from ATS, with most admissions decisions being made in March and April.
If a program reaches capacity, a student's application will be considered for their second-choice program.
ATS usually notifies the school counselor about any openings. In some cases, ATS may contact students and their families directly, asking for a prompt response to manage the waitlist efficiently.
Program enrollment varies depending on the specific program.
Each sending school provides bus transportation to and from ATS. Students may also drive if they receive permission from both their sending school and ATS.

ATS offers programs for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students should apply the year before they plan to attend. Applications open on December 1 for each subsequent academic year.
No. Tuition for ATS is covered by the student’s high school. However, students and their families are responsible for the cost of any required supplies. Details on supplies and estimated costs are available in our Career Guide.

Yes. Students split their time between ATS and their home high school. ATS sessions are structured to accommodate both, so students can continue attending their core high school classes.
While transportation is provided to and from ATS, students involved in after-school activities should coordinate with their high school for additional transportation needs, as this may vary by school.
ATS programs are designed to provide skills for high-demand careers across multiple fields, including healthcare, technology, trades, and public service. Program-specific career outcomes are outlined in our Career Guide.
Switching programs can only occur between academic years and is subject to availability and specific circumstances. Students interested in a program change should speak with the ATS Coordinator or their school counselor to discuss options.
ATS attendance policies are coordinated with students’ high schools, and students are expected to meet both ATS and high school attendance requirements. Students should communicate with both institutions regarding absences.

IEP/504 Students Frequently Asked Questions
A Student Services Representative acts as a liaison between ATS and partner schools for IEP/504 meetings. They also serve as the special services coordinator at ATS, ensuring that students with IEPs/504 plans receive necessary accommodations and modifications.
A student’s IEP functions at ATS just as it does at their home school, with all accommodations and modifications provided as specified in the IEP. However, certain accommodations may not be feasible in specific ATS programs due to program demands or safety considerations. Any limitations will be discussed on an individual basis to find the best solution for each student.
The ARO application is required for students with an IEP or 504 plan who are enrolling in a dual credit or college credit ATS program to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided.
Dual credit or college credit options are currently available in the following ATS programs: Automotive Technology, Culinary Arts, Digital Media, Early Childhood Education (ECE), Fire Science Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Health Services II, HVAC, Precision Machining Technology, and Welding Technology.
