Viking-Ready Book Bundle Program

The Viking-Ready Book Bundle is our affordable textbook rental access program that provides students with all required rental textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and electronic book versions before the first day of class! 

This pack allows students to receive their textbooks for all of the classes that they register for at a standard rate of $24 per semester credit hour, saving you up to 35-50% on the cost of course materials. For example, if a student is registered for 10 semester credit hours, the cost of textbooks is $240. The cost can be paid by financial aid or by the student. If a student enrolls in a payment plan, this charge will be included in the payment plan calculations. Supplies are not included in this program and will need to be purchased separately.

Students are automatically enrolled in the Viking-Ready Book Bundle at the time of registration and will begin receiving emails about selecting their preferred delivery method of their book bundle.

How it Works

  1. Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials. Prior to each semester students will receive an email with important dates and information to reserve their books. Students will log in to their bookstore account to confirm their schedule and complete the process.
  2. One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference, either in-store pickup or shipped directly to you. (Please note there is a shipping fee of $8.99.)
  3. An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
  4. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Canvas
  5. Head to the first day of class with the books needed to succeed this semester

What is included in the program?
The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.

What is excluded from the program?
The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, engineering kits or nursing kits.

How do I enroll in the program?
All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the Viking-Ready Book Bundle program.

Can I opt-out of the program?
While it is NOT recommended, students have the option to opt-out of this program by visiting the link below.

Spring 2024 Semester Opt-Out Timeframes
Opting out means you will not receive access to your required course materials in a convenient package at a discounted rate. Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for charges to be removed from your student account after opting out. The opt out option is available through March 22nd for second 8 week classes. 

How do I change my opt-out status?
To change your status and opt into the Viking-Ready Book Bundle program, please refer to your opt-out confirmation email and click on the link within the email or visit the opt-out of Viking-Ready Book Bundle program and modify your selection. Please note you must make your final selection by March 22nd for second 8 week spring classes.


Summer 2024 Semester Opt-Out Timeframes
For Intersession classes (class dates May 20 - June 6), the opt-out period is May 13 - May 22.
Do not opt-out before these dates. 
For Summer classes (class dates June 10 or later), the opt-out period is June 3 - July 3.
Do not opt out before this date. 

Opting out means you will not receive access to your required course materials in a convenient package at a discounted rate. 

How do I purchase my course materials if I decide to opt-out of the program?
Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials through the bookstore.

When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore?
The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their email address.

Can I buy my rented textbook?
Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.

Do I need to return books if they are for a continuation course?
Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

What happens if I never verify my order?
Students will receive emails and phone calls from the bookstore to remind them to verify their order. If the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore and their student account will be charged.

If I never pick up my books, will I still get charged?
Yes, if the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore and their student account will be charged.

What if I drop a class?
You may return the book to the bookstore on the same terms and timelines currently in place. If you drop a class and enroll in a different class, the bookstore will “swap” the required textbooks/codes so that you have what you need.

Can I opt-out if I picked up my textbooks?
Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will go back or remain on your account.
