FYE College Studies
College Studies courses help students successfully transition to college by focusing on academic skills, behavioral expectations, and essential life skills like time management, decision making, and goal setting. Some courses also include a career exploration assignment using the FOCUS 2 assessment tool. For additional support, students can access helpful study strategy videos through College Info Geek, covering topics like effective studying, test prep, reading, and more.
College Studies
The term College Studies refers to a collection of courses that emphasize orientation to college, behavioral expectations of college students, required skills for academic success, Jefferson College resources, and essential college/workplace issues such as time management, decision making, and goal setting
- COL 100 Freshman Seminar (1 credit)
- COL 101 Introduction to College: Strategies for Success (1 credit)
- COL 136 Mastering the College Experience (3 credits)
Career Exploration

One assignment that some college studies classes require involves career exploration and research. In order to complete this assignment students will need to complete the assessments on FOCUS 2 as well as complete the required research and reflection. Students may log in to FOCUS 2 and create an account using the keyword below.
