Reading

The Reading Department at Jefferson College provides students with developmental reading instruction that prepare them for the rigors of college-level coursework (courses numbered 100 and above) and workplace tasks, helping students toward higher comprehension and eventual success.  Through traditional classroom instruction linked with computer reinforcement, students improve to a level of readiness that is required to meet Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) standards.  Students with an ACT score below 18 or no ACT score must take the Compass Placement Reading Test to determine readiness, with a score of 80 resulting in mandatory placement into a reading remediation course.
