Automotive Technology

Program Overview
The goal of the ASE-accredited Automotive Technology Program is to prepare students for employment in the automotive services industry. Graduates are employed in sales, parts, and technician positions.
This program combines the study of college-level general education courses and extensive course work in automotive theory and lab classes designed to prepare graduates for entry level careers as technicians, service advisors, parts specialists, and managers
Please note the following supplies is required for the program:
- Safety glasses
- Sturdy work shoes/boots
- Two (2) Jefferson College Automotive Technology work shirts purchased from bookstore
Degree Information
Earn a certificate and get to work within a year. Continue your passion in our Associate degree coursework and tackle more complex diagnostics and repairs. Ready for management? Earn a Bachelor's degree from Missouri Baptist University at Jefferson College!

The Academic Plan is a semester-by-semester plan for the full-time student. Part-time students should work with an advisor to customize the map to fit individual needs.

Career Opportunities
Careers in automotive technology encompass a variety of roles that cater to different interests and skill sets within the automotive industry. Graduates with degrees or certificates in automotive technology can pursue positions ranging from hands-on technical roles to management and sales positions, depending on their level of education and experience.

Oil Change for Veterans 2025
"We held the event at our Automotive Technology building on November 8th, the weekend before Veterans Day where we serviced a total of 40 vehicles. For this event, we partnered with multiple organizations. PMT (made dog tag key chains), Metal Fab (made items to auction off), Welding (made items to auction off), Culinary Arts (made lunch for the students and veterans) as well as NAPA Desoto Donated oil and filters), Dominoes 9 donated pizzas for the students) Hillsboro, and AutoZone Hillsboro (donated oil and filters). We have had great feedback from the community in support of the oil change event." stated Brad Berrey, Associate Professor for Automotive Technology.
