Attorney General Jay Nixon to Address Graduates
Jefferson College will hold its 43rd annual graduation ceremony this Saturday, May 10, in the Field House on the Hillsboro campus. Nearly 800 graduates are eligible to receive associate degrees and certificates as the class of 2008.
Preceding commencement activities, the Nursing program will have its Level II pinning ceremony at 9 a.m. in the Fine Arts Theater. The commencement ceremony will start at 11 a.m. in the Field House with the procession of graduates.
Due to the significant volume of amount of traffic that enters the campus, attendees are advised to arrive early for sufficient parking. Those with disabilities needing special seating should make reservations by calling Disability Support Services Coordinator Sundaye Harrison at (636) 797-3000, extension 169.
This year’s commencement speaker is Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon who is completing a record fourth term. He was first elected to the position in 1992 on a platform of fighting crime, cleaning up government corruption, and protecting consumers and the environment. Prior to becoming Attorney General, Nixon served as a state senator from Jefferson County for six years. He is a native of De Soto and earned his political science and law degrees from the University of Missouri–Columbia.
