Instructions to Graduates Provided to You the Day of Commencement

Candidates for Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 graduates are encouraged to participate in the ceremony of their choice.  RSVP for a ceremony by May 1st to ensure your name is in the commencement program. Guests are not limited in number and do not require tickets.

Optional Rehearsal on Friday May 16th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Hillsboro Campus Field House Gym Floor
On the day of Commencement, graduates will report to the lower level of the Field House and receive all the instructions needed. However, if a graduate would like to attend the rehearsal, please report to the Field House at 12:00 pm on May 16th.

Cap and Gown Order Information for Graduates
Graduates should have ordered their cap and gown by March 31st. If you placed your cap and gown order prior to the March 31st deadline, you will be able to pick up your caps and gowns at the location (Hillsboro campus bookstore or Arnold Front Desk) beginning Monday, April 28th. If you did not place your cap and gown order prior to March 31st, walk-in orders can be picked up in the Hillsboro campus bookstore after May 5th. There will be no charges for your cap and gown as it is covered by your graduation fee. Graduates should wear only approved graduation apparel. Caps may be decorated, but must be in good taste. Any cap decoration deemed inappropriate by staff will be replaced at Commencement.  No other pins, buttons, stoles, cords, or any other ornamentation is allowed. See the graduation apparel webpage for a complete listing of approved apparel.

Commencement Day Instructions for Faculty and Certified Staff - Important Information - Please Open this Link and Read!

Full-time faculty and Certified Professional staff are required to participate in one of the two Commencement ceremonies unless non-participation is approved by Dr. McCaffrey. Requests for non-participation must be submitted via email to Dr. McCaffrey. ATS Faculty may attend an area high school ceremony or a Jefferson College Commencement ceremony. See Suzanne Richardson for details.

To reserve your seat, please complete the RSVP form. Seats are limited for each ceremony and when one reaches its capacity, it will no longer be an option. Please monitor the Commencement Information webpage for information and updates. Commencement attire is required. If you are in need of Commencement regalia, please contact the bookstore to place and order. The College will pay rental fees for commencement regalia rented from the Jefferson College bookstore for the first year an employee is required to attend commencement. If an employee wishes to purchase their commencement regalia, the College will apply the Jefferson College bookstore’s rental rate toward the purchase price for the first year. For the second and subsequent years, the employee will be responsible for any associated costs of rental or purchase of commencement regalia.

Some faculty and staff assist with the execution of the ceremonies that day. If you will be working Commencement rather than participating in the ceremony, please complete the above RSVP form and indicate that you will be assisting with Commencement. More information on worker assignments will be forthcoming.

Please check the Commencement webpage in April and May for additional details and preparation. These details will also be emailed to you in April.
