Jefferson College to Award $1.3 Million in Student Emergency Grants

Jefferson College will distribute over $1.3 million ($1,305,078) in federal emergency financial aid grants in connection with stimulus funds through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) for students impacted by the ongoing COVID pandemic.

CRRSAA funds are available to support students struggling to cover any component of their educational costs or for emergency expenses that have arisen due to the coronavirus while attending Jefferson College.

Computer Integrated Manufacturing Program Receives $15,000 Grant

The Jefferson College Computer Integrated Manufacturing program was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation for student scholarships, instructional materials, industry credentialing, and other efforts that promote advanced manufacturing education.

Currently there is a high demand for manufacturing technicians and skilled tradespeople in Jefferson County and the surrounding region. In many instances, jobs are so plentiful that there are not enough workers to fill needed positions. Most students in the Jefferson College CIM program receive job offers before they complete their training.

PTK Honor Society Chapter Receives REACH Recognition

For the fifth consecutive year, the Jefferson College Xi Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa international honor society has been named a national REACH chapter for bringing the benefits and opportunities of PTK participation by increasing membership. 

The recognition is part of PTK’s REACH Rewards program, which celebrates and rewards Phi Theta Kappa chapters excelling in membership development. Jefferson College’s Xi Zeta chapter currently has 575 members and will grow even larger following a virtual induction ceremony this spring. More than 112,500 students across the world became PTK members in 2020.

The 2021 REACH Chapters will receive free graduation stoles for their members. Nearly 5,600 stoles will be awarded.

Dean’s List Announced for Fall 2020

Jefferson College Vice President of Student Services, Kimberly Harvey-Manus, has announced the Dean’s List for the Fall 2020 semester, containing the names of 658 students who earned the academic recognition.

To qualify for the Dean’s List honor, full-time students must achieve a grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) in at least 12 graded credit hours taken that semester. Part-time students who accumulate 12 or more graded credit hours with a 3.25 grade point average also qualify and must contact the Vice President of Student Services Office within ten days of grade reporting to be included.
