The Jefferson College Xi Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa international honor society recently welcomed 83 new members who met the qualifications for membership. To be considered for admission, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. The society is based on the hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship.
The Xi Zeta chapter was established at Jefferson College in 1965 and has received numerous regional and international awards. The chapter advisor is Instructional Support Specialist Karen Hester.
This year, the Xi Zeta chapter was once again named a REACH Chapter for their efforts to bring the benefits and opportunities of PTK participation to more students by increasing membership.
