Law Enforcement Academy Application Deadlines Extended

Due to closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the application deadlines for the day and POST classes at the Jefferson College Law Enforcement Academy have been extended.

The deadline for the JCLEA day class (anticipated start date in August) has been extended to June 30 and the deadline for the POST class (anticipated start date in October) has been extended to August 29.

The academy is located on the Jefferson College Imperial site at 4400 Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold, just south of Richardson Road. It is convenient to surrounding counties and easy to access from I-55. JCLEA staff are available from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. to assist with application submissions and/or answer calls. For additional information or questions, call (636) 481-3425 or (636) 481-3481.

Applications can be submitted by mail to Jefferson College Law Enforcement Academy, 1000 Viking Drive, Hillsboro, MO 63050 or dropped off in person or deposited in drop box at the front door at the JCLEA training facility in Arnold.

The JCLEA offers three options for students seeking a Missouri Department of Public Safety POST Class A License and is the only academy in the state that incorporates the curriculum for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice in two of its three programs as a way to distinguish graduates when they enter the job market. The third program, a POST curriculum only option, offers a Certificate in Criminal Justice and is limited to applicants who already have a two or four-year degree.

Academy training also includes hands-on activities such as firearms, defensive tactics, an  emergency vehicle operations course, a driver simulator, first aid, and practical training scenarios.

In addition to the basic training for students entering the field, the Academy goal includes providing high quality training to law enforcement personnel, to inspire professionalism in all peace officers, and to provide civilian personnel with education and training prior to employment or association with a law enforcement agency.
