AEL Program Recognized for Excellence by Missouri Department of Education

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently awarded the Jefferson College Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program the AEL High Quality Award for exceptional student outcomes and program operations. DESE annually recognizes local programs that achieve outstanding student outcomes while maintaining a high degree of fiscal integrity in their program operations.

The Jefferson College AEL program earned the award for meeting all set targets for the 2021-2022 academic year: persistence, post-testing, measurable skill gains, and employment after exit. The award was presented to AEL Program Director Julie Johns at the Missouri AEL Directors Conference in Jefferson City.

The program is funded through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is the only accredited program in Jefferson County.
