NOTICE OF VACANCIES ON
BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
(Jefferson College)

Notice is hereby given to the residents of The Community College District of Jefferson County, Missouri, that three (3) positions on the Board of Trustees will be vacant and will be filled by an election on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The positions are as follows: two positions for six (6) years each and are those currently held by Krystal Hargis and Ron Scaggs; one position is for the unexpired four (4) year term currently held by Tim Lewis, who was appointed following the resignation of Marc Williams. The top two vote recipients will be seated for the six-year terms, and the third highest vote recipient will be seated for the four-year term.

Candidates must be twenty-one (21) years of age; a U.S. Citizen and resident of the District for at least one (1) year preceding the date of election; not convicted of, or found guilty of, or pled guilty to a felony under the laws of this State; and must not be delinquent in the payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, or real property taxes on the place of residence.

Declarations of Candidacy must be filed in person during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, located in the Jefferson County Administration Center at 729 Maple Street in Hillsboro. Declarations may be filed no earlier than 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2024, and no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2024. First day filers will select a number by random drawing to determine ballot placement for the General Municipal Election. After the first day to file, candidates will be placed on the ballot in the order of their filing. Declaration of Candidacy forms must be notarized before filing. Please note that the Jefferson County Clerk's Office will be closed in observance of the Christmas Holiday on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and candidates will not be allowed to file on this date.

The Jefferson College Board of Trustees meets in public session on the second Thursday of each month in the Administration Building Board Room on the Hillsboro campus. 

Those who wish to present information or address the Board are required to be present at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting, complete a sign-in log, and submit ten copies of appropriate documentation (if applicable). Each speaker will be given a maximum of three minutes, unless allotted more time by the Board, and a maximum of three individuals will be heard regarding the same subject, unless additional speakers are approved.

The Board of Trustees shall consist of six members to be elected from the District at large. Members shall be elected for terms of six years each with two members being elected in each odd-numbered year.
