Course Description: Prerequisites: PNE141 with a grade of "B" or better, successful completion of PNE142, and reading proficiency
Corequisite: PNE181 Medical-Surgical Nursing I (MS I) course is designed to assist a beginning nursing student in the care of the client with medical-surgical disorders. Emphasis is placed on the systematic attainment of theoretical knowledge utilizing a holistic approach to the nursing process. Concepts of perioperative care, pain management, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and acid-base regulation are hematopoietic, and immune system disorders will be explored. (F, S)

Bio: Mrs. Record graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State) in 1995. The majority of her career has been in Perioperative Nursing. She also has experience in ENT, OB clinic, missions, and Urgent Care settings. In 2015, Mrs. Record joined Jefferson College as an adjunct clinical instructor. Since then, she has moved into the Simulation lab and didactic instruction in the classroom, accepting a full-time faculty role in 2021. Mrs. Record is passionate about sharing her nursing knowledge with nursing students.
