Course Description: Prerequisites: Admission to the Law Enforcement Academy and reading proficiency

Advanced Criminal Investigation for Law Enforcement studies the criminal act
and its investigation including specific crimes against the person and against
property. The process of fact-gathering, testing of hypotheses, and the problem of proof are also examined. In Advanced Criminal Investigation the student takes an active part in these facets by participating in the mock crime scene. Processing evidence, identifying clues, and establishing the elements of the crime involved. This coursework uses the current Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) curriculum related to criminal investigation. (D)
