Course Description: Prerequisites: Admission to the Law Enforcement Academy and reading proficiency

Ethics and Professionalism for Law Enforcement provides the student with the
information needed to solve ethical dilemmas faces in law enforcement. The course begins with a candid and frank presentation of the major ethical systems and leadership styles followed by a discussion of moral development and the ideal of justice. The course will include not only philosophical information but practical applications as well, allowing each student the opportunity to make individual decisions. This course uses the current Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) curriculum and objectives. (D)
