Course Description: Prerequisites: HIT100, HIT115, HIT122 or BIT122, HIT130, HIT150, HIT200, HIT205 and HIT220 (all courses must be completed with a grade of "C" or better) and reading proficiency
Corequisites: HIT230, HIT250, HIT255, and HIT260
HIT Capstone is designed to help the student review the entry-level competencies as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). The student will utilize health information technology skills to address keys items including professional dress attire, resume/ cover letter creation, management driven case scenarios, etc. During the course, a review regarding the components for the Registered Health Information Technician Exam will be covered. Bio: Niki Vogelsang holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Saint Louis University and a Master`s degree in Business Administration from Missouri Baptist University.
She worked in the health care industry for seven years prior to transitioning to the education arena. Niki is the Director of the Health Information Technology Program at Jefferson College. She holds a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential. She is also active in the Eastern Missouri Health Information Management Associations (EMHIMA) and the Missouri Health Information Management Association (MOHIMA).
