Students must have minimal weekday availability to get fingerprints for background check clearance, as 6 hours of P-12 field experience in public schools are required. Check the course homepage through the Canvas icon in MyJeffco once the course begins. High-speed internet access is required. No required textbook.
Course Description: Pre-/corequisite: Reading proficiency

This course serves as the formal entrance into the AAT degree program.
After students have successfully completed this course and ENG 101, they
may register for additional education courses. This course is an
introduction to the field of education and to certification requirements.
Students will explore state standards for teachers and for P-12 students.
The required field experience is a minimum of six (6) hours of classroom
observation and two interviews. Each student must complete a background
check that includes records from both the Missouri State Highway Patrol
and the FBI and receive clearance prior to entering any P-12 school to
begin field experiences. (F, S, Su, O)
