Course Description: Prerequisite: Reading proficiency

Modern Art is an art history course involving the study of the fine arts of the Western hemisphere dating from the middle of the 19th century to the present day. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of modern painting, sculpture, architecture, and camera arts, in addition to minor arts. This course will allow students in current Survey of Art courses to follow their studies through to contemporary art. (D,O)

Bio: Blake Carroll received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, and his Master of Fine Arts from Boston University. Mr. Carroll creates paintings and photographs that combine figurative and abstract elements. Traditional themes of portraiture and landscape are explored in his work, as well as jazz music and urban/rural life. He works in the oil, acrylic, watercolor, and encaustic media.
