WOW!! FREE Programs and Activities
The Holistic Wellness Program, Witness Our Wellness or WOW, provides a variety of FREE activities geared toward helping individuals create and maintain a sense of well-being.. This holistic approach considers seven aspects of wellness-physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual, occupational, and environmental. Activities include group fitness programs, access to the state-of-art fitness facility and an Olympic size pool, monthly Healthy Habits workshops, interactive learning opportunities, incentive programs, and more.
The activities provided by the Jefferson College Holistic Wellness Programs are made available through funding from the Jefferson Memorial Community Foundation.
WALKING is a great way to be active and to begin your journey toward physical fitness and wellness! Walking on a regular basis may lead to many health benefits. These benefits include lowering high blood pressure, positively impacting heart disease and diabetes, strengthening your bones and muscles, helping you expend more calories, and brightening your outlook on life. Walking is low cost and can be done anytime, anywhere!
The Jefferson College Wellness Program, Witness Our Wellness, is dedicated to the overall well-being of our campus community. Like anything, we must take one step at a time to accomplish a goal. This initial campaign is to simply take 30 minutes…to get moving in the right direction toward a healthier and happier you!
WHY 30 Minutes?
It is universally recommended for adults to obtain minimum of 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity (activity that speeds up your heart rate and breathing) to stay healthy. Here’s how you can do it:
- Break it down-30 minutes per day x 5 days per week = 150 minutes per week
- Split it up-If you can't walk for 30 minutes at a time, you can take three 10-minute walks instead.
