About the Foundation
The mission of the Jefferson College Foundation is to support the growth and development of Jefferson College in whatever ways are beneficial to its students, faculty, staff and campus facilities.
The purpose of the Jefferson College Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, is to provide financial assistance to Jefferson College. The Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of 25 devoted individuals who work closely with College administration to determine the financial needs of the college and the extent to which the Foundation can assist with those needs.
Founded in 1991, Jefferson College Foundation continues to build relationships within our community by connecting donors who want to help make a positive difference in the lives of students working to better themselves through education and cultural enrichment, to the various giving opportunities that are available at Jefferson College. The Foundation sincerely appreciates the support of its donors who not only impact today’s students, but help ensure that Jefferson College will be here for generations to come.
We will continue to partner with the Jefferson College Foundation in raising funds for student scholarships, equipment, capital projects and other initiatives that meet the philanthropic interests of donors. Even though the College is not faced with immediate financial need, serving donors will still be a priority.
Private fundraising will involve the following strategic elements:
- Cultivation of “friends” in the community resulting in partnerships
- Creating an “edge of excellence” for the College – not just addressing budget shortfalls
- Using the Foundation to increase the direct involvement of community leaders
- Building relationships with potential major donors
The Foundation fulfills its mission by actively encouraging private gifts of cash as well as stocks and bonds, real and personal property, insurance, and in-kind from individuals, alumni, businesses, associations and service organizations. The majority of donations to the Foundation are raised through our annual Viking Fund Campaign. takes on an even greater role of importance than ever before if we are to continue to be a comprehensive Community College in Jefferson County.
Another way in which the Foundation supports educational opportunities at Jefferson College is by hosting fun and exciting events. Proceeds from our events provide scholarships for talented and deserving students in need of assistance. It also provides quality entertainment for members of the community and their families.
