Jefferson College AEL/GED Program Recognized Among Missouri's Best

August 18, 2011

The Jefferson College Adult Education and Literacy/GED program recently received the STAR Program with Distinction Award from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, which has only been given to a few programs in the state. It is the highest honor given to an AEL/GED program.

Jefferson College's score of 99 out of a possible 100 was the highest rating ever issued by a state review team.

The college's award-winning Adult Education and Literacy program provides adults with the opportunity to improve basic skills or prepare for the GED test. Classes are available at no cost.

When an individual is ready to begin, an AEL/GED instructor will help them design a plan of study to achieve personalized educational goals.

Upon successful completion of the GED, graduates are able to enroll in college, qualify for jobs requiring a high school diploma, and/or receive a job promotion that was previously denied due to a lack of education.
