In addition to the scholarships listed, students are encouraged to contact professional, religious, fraternal, civic and community organizations, local businesses, labor unions, libraries, and the branches of service for other scholarship opportunities.

All Jefferson College Institutional scholarships with a value of "full" or "50%" tuition will cover the cost of basic tuition only. The student is responsible for any additional fees (lab fees, etc.) and books associated with courses.

Students receiving scholarships from outside sources must notify the Student Financial Services Office.

Scholarship applicants must be accepted for admission to Jefferson College. Recent high school graduates must have the recommendation form completed for consideration.

Application Deadlines:
Recent high school graduates - Application received by March 1 will be given priority consideration. All other applicants will be considered based upon date of submission.

Re-Entry/GED/Continuing Students - Applications received by June 1 will be given priority consideration. All other applicants will be considered based upon date of submission.

If you are a Jefferson County high school graduate and are ranked in the top 10% of your graduating class, you may be eligible to receive the full-tuition Honors "Top 10" Scholarship. To receive this award, your application must be received by March 1 prior to your high school graduation. Late applications will not be considered for this award.

Awarding Criteria and Selection of Recipients:
Scholarship awards are made by the Jefferson College Scholarship Committee and in some instances, the scholarship sponsors.  Awards vary in value and criteria and are made according to donor guidelines.  Scholarship recipients must have a satisfactory citizenship record.  The following criteria is used to select scholarship recipients:

  • Academic Achievement

  • Applicant/education goal statement

  • Financial Need**

  • Extracurricular/community involvement

  • Extenuating circumstances

  • Identified program of study

  • Recommendation by high school counselor, principal, or teacher

**To be considered for a need-based scholarship, you must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This form is available at

Scholarship awards are made throughout the entire year.  You will receive an award letter from the College if you are selected to receive a scholarship.  Because the application is under consideration for the entire year, letters are not sent to students that have not been selected to receive a scholarship.

Renewal Criteria:
In order to receive or renew a Jefferson College Institutional scholarship, most recipients are expected to maintain full-time enrollment (12 or more credit hours).  All scholarships are designed as having one of the following renewal criteria:

  • Renewable with a specific grade point average (gpa) and/or completion rate

  • Non-Renewable 

Recipients of renewable scholarships must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.  Renewal criteria other than that specified above will be denoted in the description of the actual scholarship.

A+ Students and Scholarship Eligibility:
Students who plan to use the A+ Scholarship are eligible to receive up to a maximum of $500 annually in additional scholarships awarded by Jefferson College. Any scholarship resources received from outside organizations or the state of Missouri may be retained by the student, up to the cost of attendance.
