Adjunct Faculty & Lab Instructors for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Print


Jefferson College is seeking qualified and motivated adjunct faculty & Lab Instructors for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. These individuals must be student-centered and committed to innovative teaching, academic advising, institutional service, and community service. The candidates selected will demonstrate dedication to the development of future leaders in occupational therapy and promote effective learning processes for students in the program and associated fieldwork education. The Program is currently funded by a grant for three years and is seeking accreditation through the Accreditation Counsel for Occupational Therapy Education.

Job Summary: Work with the program director to provide academic preparation of OTA students and prepare them for successful fieldwork experience. Assist in developing course objectives, course materials, and educational experiences for optimal learning for students. Evaluate students' learning outcomes to meet the objectives of the program and the organization. Maintain accurate documentation of student performance. Facilitate meaningful learning of the curriculum that supports all facets of the learning environment. Jefferson College OTA Adjunct Faculty will be expected to sit on OTA program committees, participate in program development as necessary, and encourage a culture of learning, mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development.

Qualifications: Must possess a current license to practice occupational therapy assistant (OTA) in Missouri (or current license with eligibility for Missouri license). Must hold an Associate’s degree by an accredited institution, Minimum of 5 years of experience as an OTA in a clinical setting is required. Previous adjunct or assistant teaching in an accredited program is preferred. Applicant must demonstrate content expertise in one or more of the following areas: geriatrics, neuro, pediatrics and school based OTA, home health, assistive technology and seating systems. Position may require on-site support of students while on fieldwork with travel to clinical sites, attendance at continuing education seminars and conferences.

• Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills)

• Ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse school/campus constituents
• Project a positive image of the program both internally (within the college or university) and externally (within the community)
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Effectively mentor students in relation education issues
• Demonstrate positive interactions with diverse faculty, students, fieldwork educators, and practitioners
