Jefferson College offers four types of degrees:

Associate of Arts (A.A.)
Associate of Arts in Teaching (A.A.T.)
Associate of Science (A.S.)
Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.)

Each degree is composed of courses which satisfy a General Education component, as well as courses which satisfy program requirements.  You can review each degree and program link to find general education and departmental courses for each degree.

General Education requirements include the following areas:
I. Communications
II. Humanities
III. Social and Behavioral Sciences
IV. Mathematics and Natural Sciences
V. General Education option
VI. Computer Literacy

The total hour requirements for the General Education component vary between degrees.

The Associate of Arts is a degree that is designed to meet general education components and transfer to a four-year institution.  There are several supporting areas students can choose from to meet the Associate of Arts elective requirements.

The Associate of Arts in Teaching is a statewide degree program.  Jefferson College's A.A.T. is comprised of 42 credit hours of general education, a14 credit hour Teacher Education Core, one institutional requirement (COL 101) and a minimum of five additional credit hours in electives. 

The Associate of Science is a degree program specifically designed to transfer to the University of Missouri at Rolla for Engineering students.

The Associate of Applied Science is for career and technical education programs.  Jefferson College offers over 20 programs, both degree and certificate level.  Some career and technical programs require state licensing for professional practice.  The completion of Jefferson College’s programs entitles the student to complete these examinations.
