It's the Key to Your Future and a Better Life 

Adult Basic Education classes provide the opportunity for adults to improve their basic skills or study for the GED test.  When you are ready to begin class, you and your instructor will design a plan of study, which will help you to reach your goals.  Jefferson College is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to you and we hope that you will join us soon.

GED or High School Diploma Equivalency Services

The GED Process:

Step 1: Sign up for GED classes at Hillsboro, Ext. 3437; Arnold, Ext. 3591;
Northwest, Ext. 3534
Step 2: Attend a 12-hour Orientation and begin classes
Step 3: Request accommodations for testing if needed, (ie...physical/emotional/learning disabilities)
Step 4: Pass a GED practice test
Step 5: Mail the GED Test Application Form
Step 6: Receive your authorization form in the mail from the State of Missouri
Step 7: Register for the test with the Assessment Center, Ext. 3148
Step 8: Pass the GED Test
Step 9: Transition to Jefferson College or work

 
NOTE: The $20 test fee is required at the time of registration.
Testing fees are non refundable and non transferable.

Literacy Services

Students receive individual assistance from a certified literacy instructor. For more information on our adult literacy program appointments can be made with our Literacy Coordinator -Barb Shaffer

Earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)

WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATE?

Each day employers receive stacks of applications for only a handful of
open positions. With the National Career Readiness Certificate, issued
by ACT, you can prove you have the skills for the job! The Certificate
is the work-related skills credential. Whether you're looking for a job
or want to enhance your diploma or résumé, the Certificate provides
proof of your skills for employers nationwide. It is composed of three
WorkKeys® assessments that measure skills critical to on-the-job
success:

– Applied Mathematics
– Reading For Information
– Locating Information

The Certificate is awarded at four levels, based on your
performance in the assessments:

– Platinum
– Gold
– Silver
– Bronze
