Transfer Scholarship Program

University of Missouri - Columbia

Community College Scholar - Available to Jefferson College students who plan to transfer to the University of Missouri-Columbia with as associate of arts or science degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better.  You must enroll at MU the semester immediately following graduation.

Requirements: Have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher at Jefferson College
Value:   $1750 per year
Renewable: Renewable for one additional year if student completes 24 credit hours at the University of Missouri - Columbia with a MU cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.  
To apply:  Submit a letter of application to the Director Student Financial Services at Jefferson College by April 1.  The letter should include applicants: name, address, social security number, GPA, degree they will receive and the date they will receive this degree.  Two recipients will be selected to receive this award.

Community College Scholarship - The following is a $700 award for community college graduates.  To qualify, a student must transfer from a Missouri community college with an associates degree in arts or sciences and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at Jefferson College.  You must enroll at MU the semester immediately following graduation.

Requirements: Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at Jefferson College
Value:   $700 per year
Renewable: Renewable if student completes at least 24 credit hours at the University of Missouri-Columbia with MU cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
To apply:  Submit a letter of application to the Director Student Financial Services at Jefferson College by April 1.  The letter should include applicants: name, address, social security number, GPA, degree they will receive and the date they will receive this degree.  Two recipients will be selected to receive this award.

Missouri State University

Community College Scholarship
Value: $2,000.00 per year
Number Available:  Two for each Missouri Public Community College
Selection Criteria: Missouri public community college presidents may each nominate two students to receive this scholarship.  Students must have completed at least 30 hours at the community college with a minimum 3.25 GPA. 
Renewal Criteria:  Successfully complete 30 hours at Missouri State with a 3.40 cumulative grade point average;  renewable for one year.
Application:  Submit a letter of application to the Director Student Financial Services at Jefferson College by April 15.  This letter should include your:  name, address, social security number, GPA, degree you will receive, and the date you will receive your degree.  Two recipients will be recommended to Southwest Missouri State University to receive this award.

Missouri State University also offers two other scholarships for transfer students:

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship (PTK):
Eligible students will have completed 45 credit hours with a 3.5 GPA.  The value is $2000.  The application deadline is March 31.  Students should apply DIRECTLY to Southwest.  There are 20 available to award.  Students may not receive both PTK and Transfer Academic Scholarship.

Transfer Academic Scholarship: Eligible students will have completed 45 credit hours with a 3.5 GPA.  The value is $1500.  The application deadline is March 31.  Students should apply DIRECTLY to Missouri State University.  The number available is unlimited.  This scholarship is not available to recipients of the PTK Scholarship.

University of Missouri St. Louis 

Community College President's Scholarship
The Community College President's Scholarship is awarded jointly by your Jefferson College Campus President and the UMSL Chancellor. The scholarship supports 15 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters, but will not exceed support of 65 hours or two years. It also supports summer credit in the amount of $375 for three hours and $750 for six hours.

One student from each participating campus will be awarded the scholarship each fall and spring semester. The recipients will be chosen by UMSL from up to three candidates nominated by the president of the students' sending campus.

Students must Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
Completed or have applied for graduate with an Associate in Arts degree.
Be admitted to UMSL by the following deadlines to receive the scholarship -
March 15 for fall semesters and Oct. 15 for spring semesters

To maintain the scholarship, students must keep a GPA of 3.0 or higher and maintain full-time enrollment for two consecutive regular semesters.

To apply for the scholarship, complete the UMSL Community College President's Transfer Scholarship Application and submit it with a 200 word essay to the Jefferson College Student Financial Services Office by October 15th for the spring semester or March 15th for the fall.
