In 2011 he led a team of cyclists in the MS 150 which raised over $10,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Held is frequently asked to speak on various topics surrounding cardiovascular health and fitness, risk factors for coronary artery disease, metabolic disease and orthopedic conditions. He regularly participates in community health fairs to help promote the benefits of proper nutrition, exercise and lifestyle modification to prevent chronic disease.

In 2007 he started his own private consulting business, Conditioning Concepts Fitness Training Systems, LLC, which works with recreational exercisers, fitness enthusiasts and athletes on health and performance improvement.

Held has resided in Jefferson County for 38 years, where he practices what he preaches by regularly cycling, running, working out, and competing in various fitness events. He and his wife, Jenny, have two sons, Drew and Keaton.

"I am grateful to have graduated from Jefferson College. Going to a four-year college out of high school would not have given me the chance to receive a superior educational experience that was affordable and convenient. The close attention and guidance helped shape a successful future," says Held. He believes that Jefferson College helped pave the way for his success by providing an education foundation not possible at larger institutions. The educators cared about the success of the students to help them reach their potential.

Both of his sisters have also graduated from Jefferson College.
