2000 Alumnus of the Year - Chuck Martin

Martin graduated from Jefferson College in 1968 with an Associate of Arts degree. He continued his education at Southeast Missouri State University completing a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1971. In 1976 he earned a Master of Arts in Secondary School Administration and in 1981 a Specialist degree in Secondary School Administration also from Southeast Missouri State University.

Martin has been an administrator with the Hillsboro, Missouri, R-III school district for 23 years. During this time he has served the district as Assistant High School Principal, High School Principal, and Middle School Principal. He has been active in professional organizations and served on district, state and national level committees. Martin has been recognized as the Area IV Special Olympics Outstanding Administrator, cited by the National Association of Secondary School Principals for "Distinguished Professional Service," awarded a Missouri State Leadership Academy scholarship to attend the Harvard Principal's Institute, presented the "Hawk Award" by the Hillsboro R-III School District for "Outstanding Service," and recognized by the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals as a "Distinguished Principal." Prior to his tenure as a school administrator Martin taught physical education, math and coached for six years with the De Soto and Hillsboro School Districts.
