Having spent a significant portion of their lives serving our country as members of the armed forces, the Jeffco Detachment 707 Marine Corps League in Arnold recently demonstrated their service to our community by donating $3,000 to the Jefferson College Foundation to create a grant for deserving students.

The Jeffco Detachment 707 Marine Corps League Grant is available to recent graduates from the Fox or Windsor public school districts and to those from private schools in either district who enroll full-time at Jefferson College and pursue an Associate degree or Career and Technical Education certificate. Applicants must also submit a one-page essay addressing the topic “Freedom Is Not Free.” Each annual $500 scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, and/or books at Jefferson College.

Members of the Marine Corps League join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of the United States Marine Corps, banding together those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service that they may effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aiding and rendering assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.
