Volunteering Mission Statement

The Jefferson College volunteering program is an initiative of the Office of Student Development. Our mission is to provide service opportunities for Jefferson College students who are committed to improving the local community through civic engagement and volunteering. The program houses a database of local social service agencies, organizes two large-scale volunteering efforts per year, the Alzheimer’s Walk and Relay for Life, and supports the student club, Circle K International. Circle K International blends ongoing community service and volunteering with leadership development for Jefferson College students.

The goal of the volunteering program at Jefferson College is to affirm the role of community involvement as an integral component of the higher education experience, and to promote responsible citizenship and an ethic of service.  The program seeks to:

  • To promote volunteering at Jefferson College
  • To build capacity for volunteering with organizations seeking guidance to develop and maintain effective volunteer programs
  • To participate in strategic initiatives to mobilize volunteers to meet local needs

You can find a list of agencies accepting volunteers by viewing our Partner Agencies. More information on Circle K International (CKI) can be found here.
