Director of Teaching and Learning Print

Sandy Frey, Director of Teaching and Learning

“My experiences as an instructor combined with my respect for academic freedom and the pedagogical content knowledge of individual instructors is the basis for the support I provide for Jefferson College faculty members.  It is my desire to serve instructors as they create engaging learning environments, where students are active participants in the learning process, developing critical thinking skills while mastering subject area content. Excellence in teaching is my passion. I look forward to working with instructors to support them in their quest to be excellent teachers.”

Prior to becoming the Director of Teaching and Learning, Sandy taught online and face-to-face Teacher Education courses at Jefferson College from 2001 - 2006. In her current role as the Director of Teaching and Learning, Sandy assists and supports faculty members as they apply emerging theory and practice to their specific disciplines. Sandy meets with individual faculty members interested in improving student learning, and offers workshops to support faculty members in their efforts to create engaging learning environments.

Sandy is the Faculty Liaison on the Jefferson College Accommodations Committee, the chair of the Adjunct Inclusion and Assessment Update subcommittees of the Assessment Committee, and serves on the Early Childhood Services Association Advisory Committee for the Parents as Teachers Program. She is a doctoral candidate in the UMSL Educational Leadership and Policies Studies Program, with an Emphasis in Higher Education. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia and her Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.
