McGee Selected as Basketball Head Coach/Student-Athlete Success Coordinator at Jefferson College
Following a comprehensive regional search, Ashley McGee of Omaha, Nebraska, has been named Basketball Head Coach/Student-Athlete Success Coordinator at Jefferson College.
McGee was chosen from a field of over 80 applicants and follows Steve Jarvis who led the Vikings as head coach for three seasons.
She has served as the women’s basketball assistant coach at Iowa Western Community College since 2015, where she also taught Coaching Theory I and II. During her tenure, Iowa Western had a 77 percent win record, had been ranked nationally, and qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament in 2016-17. She has strong development management, compliance, academic success, business, and communication skills.
“We are proud to introduce Ashley McGee as our new Head Women’s Basketball Coach and Student-Athlete Success Coordinator,” said Jefferson College Director of Athletics Greg McVey. “It became evident from the very beginning of the search that she has the skills necessary to lead both our women’s basketball program and the student-athlete success program. I look forward to working with Coach McGee to ensure our department is providing the best possible experience for our student-athletes in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.”
In addition to her experience at Iowa Western, McGee was the women’s basketball graduate assistant at Cardinal Stritch University from 2013-15, head coach for Rising Force girls AAU from 2013-15, and volunteer assistant coach at Pius XI High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 2012.
McGee holds a Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Cardinal Stritch University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Johnson C. Smith University.
