Jefferson vs St. Charles (9-24-13)

The Jefferson Collge Vikings hosted St. Charles Community College on Tuesday, September 24th.  It was a heartbreaking loss for the Vikings as St. Charles prevailed 2-1 in an overtime victory.  The match was tightly contested until St. Charles scored the opening goal after 27 minutes of the first half.  The Vikings pressured their opponents throughout the second half and finally tied the score after 26 minutes when Brian Jurado crossed the ball from the right side to Prince Kabedah who one-touched the ball and drove it high into the opponent's net.

The Vikings continued to press and had several opportunitites to go ahead but were unable to score past the St. Charles keeper.  With less than two minutes remaning, St. Charles had an opportunity to win in regulation time, but keeper Robert Jones deflected a hard strike and Co-captain Dwight Degazon cleared the ball off the line.

Jefferson continued to press forward during the overtime period, but with less than a minute remaining, St. Charles scored on a breakaway past the diving keeper to end the game.  Jefferson's record now stands at 7-4.  They travel to Atlanta this weekend for two games against ranked teams:  Darton College and Georgia Perimeter College.
