Jarvis Named Head Coach (10-18-13) Print
Steve Jarvis has been named as 2013-14 Jefferson College Women’s Basketball Head Coach and becomes the tenth Coach to lead the Vikings program.
Jarvis’ previously served as Head Women’s Basketball at St. Louis Community College – Meramec where he led the program for seven years.  Jarvis’ 2006 Meramec team won the Region XVI championship and he was subsequently named Region XVI Coach of the Year that season.  At Meramec Jarvis coached a NJCAA All American and several NJCAA Academic All Americans.
Jarvis began his coaching career at Maryville University where he was the Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach for three years and Men’s Basketball Head Coach for four years.  Jarvis restored life back to the program which became a conference contender.  Jarvis also was the Head Coach of Women’s Softball at Maryville for six seasons.  He led the team to multiple conference championships during that time.  After Maryville, Jarvis spent one year as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Parks College.  Jarvis led that program in its last year of existence and led the team to the most wins in its recent history.
Jarvis is also involved in youth basketball in the area.  He is the Director of the St. Louis Force Basketball Club.  The club is in its second year and has over 180 kids in the program.
Jarvis played his college basketball at Maryville University where he is still number nine on the all-time scoring list with 1,242 points.  Jarvis also saw court time on the Jefferson College court as a prep star at Potosi High School.  Jarvis started all four years, 108 consecutive games, at Potosi where he was a two time All-State selection.  He scored 1,574 points during his high school career.
Jarvis earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Maryville University in 1988.  He and his wife, Lisa, have three children, Kayla, Taylor and Kaitlyn. The family lives in Eureka, Missouri.
