Jefferson vs St. Louis CC (10-3-13) Print

Jefferson College hosted St. Louis Community College on October 3rd and recorded a 4-0 win to raise their record to 8-6 for the season.  In the first half, it took 30 minutes for the Vikings to break through the St. Louis defense when Kanrwea Blamo ran away from his defender to score a blast from just outside the 18 yard box.  Ten minutes later, Nick Pacino volleyed a nice pass from Prince Kabedah to score from close range past the diving goal keeper.  Then, one minute before half time, Luke Heneghan drove a 30 yard shot into the upper corner of the goal to make the score 3-0 at half time.

Two minutes later into the second half, Cameron Laywood found Luke Heneghan with a long diagonal ball and Luke blasted another long range shot into the upper right corner of the goal to make the final score 4-0.  The Vikings delivered one of their best overall team performances today, passing accurately covering for each other on defense, and controlling the ball for most of the game.  The defense, led by Jair Hernandez, Dwight Degazon, and goal keepers Robert Jones and Eric Beltran provided stellar performances to keep St. Louis off the scoreboard.  Coach Garza subsituted liberally throughout the game and every healthy eligible player contributed to the shutout win.  The Vikings take on the South Suburban Bulldogs tomorrow before traveling to Crowder College on Saturday for another regional game.
