4-0 Win Moves Vikings to 4-0 in Region XVI (10-8-12) Print

On a chilly day with a rain-soaked field the Jefferson College Vikings hosted Crowder College in a pivotal Region XIV game. The Vikings had the best of play from the start of the game, and half way through, Robbie Adams played a through ball to Pete Grindel who outraced the defender and powered a shot past the keeper for the first score. Then, shortly before the end of the half, Pete was fouled about 30 yards from goal on the left wing. Danny Arrazola then curled in a perfect shot over the Keeper's head and into the far corner of the net. The Vikings led 2-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, the Vikings pressured a goal kick, and the ball fell to Lance Kohler who found Sanel Hasanovic who drove the ball into the back of the net for the third goal. With eleven minutes left in the game, Pete Grindel fired a shot that rebounded out to Junior Milien who skillfully placed the ball past the keeper for the final tally.

Leading 4-0, Coach Garza substituted players liberally, and the substitutes showed their skill and tenacity by maintaining the shutout. The Viking are now 8-4-1 overall and 4-0 in the Region.
