Vikings Lose to 4th Ranked TJC (9-6-12) Print

Less than 24 hours after a hard fought win on Saturday, the Vikings lost a bruising game in 105° heat to 4th ranked Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.  Although the team battled courageously, they could not overcome the odds on this day.  Tyler scored twice on scrambles around the penalty box while the Vikings were not able to capitalize on their chances.

Junior Milien and Oscar Ortiz distinguished themselves in the attack but were unable to convert chances on this day, and Pete Grindel showed his versatility as an attacker and midfielder.  Once again, captain Josh Ward, Sanel Hasanovic, Diego Guzman, and Connor Kinkead thwarted numerous chances in defense, and Rylan Smelcer, Dwight Degazon, and Lance Kohler provided cover in the midfield. Brian Jurado, Jacob Luviano, Fred Verna, and Alen Palislamovic contributed valuable minutes off the bench on this sweltering day.

Robbie Adams and Diego Guzman sustained injuries in the rugged game that forced them to the sideline for the remainder of the contest. The loss puts the Vikings at 2-1-1 overall.

In an upcoming home game on September 8th the Vikings will host Heartland College for a 2:00pm contest at Vikings Field.
