Tony Cook (284-107) begins his eight year as Head Coach of Jefferson College. Coach Cook's Jefferson College softball teams have a combined record of 129-16 in the MCCAC and an overall record of 284-107.  Cook has led Jefferson to seven regular season tournament titles, six conference titles and five appearances in the Region XVI Championship game. In 2013 Cook led the Vikings to a 52-8 record and a Region XVI Title.

During his seven year tenure, Cook and his coaching staff have developed 50 All-Conference players, which include 35 All-MCCAC first team members 43 All-Region players, including 30 of which were All-Region XVI first teams.  In addition, his teams have produced seven All-NFCA Regional Team members, four NJCAA All-Americans and five NJCAA Academic All-Americans.

Cooks commitment to his players and their future, however, is his greatest accomplishment.  He utilizes his experience and contacts to give players every opportunity to play at the next level-evidenced by 36 placements in the last seven years.

Cook has over 21 years of softball coaching experience and previously coached high school softball for four years and was involved with several summer club programs, coaching both 16 and 18 year-old select teams.

Cook is a native of Jefferson County and he received his AS degree from Jefferson College and earned his BS-industrial Education from Southeast Missouri State University graduating Cum Laude.  In addition to his duties as head softball coach, he is an instructor for the Area Technical School at Jefferson College.  He and his wife, Mendy, have one daughter, Brandy, and resides in Herculaneum , Missouri.

 

BRANDY MOONIER

Brandy Moonier enters her seventh season as an assistant coach for the Vikings’ softball team.  Brandy graduated from Herculaneum High School in 2004.  She received her Associates Degree from Jefferson College and earned her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Missouri Baptist University in 2007, graduating Cum Laude.

Brandy has been playing fast pitch softball since the age of eight, and she continues to play today.  She was a four-year starter at Herculaneum and had a very successful career as a pitcher, earning numerous honors.  Brandy continued to play softball at Forest Park Community College.  She is currently employed at Festus Intermediate School as a 4th grade teacher.

 

CHARLINE (JOHNSTON) LINDHORST
Assistant Softball Coach 

Charline Johnston enters her sixth season as assistant coach for Jefferson College’s softball team.  Charline has received her Associates Degree from Jefferson College and has earned her Bachelors degree in high school Business Education from Missouri Baptist in the Spring of 2009.

Charline is a former player for the Vikings, where she earned Honorable Mention All-Conference, and Honorable Mention All-Region.  She also received Academic All-American, and graduated with a 3.6 grade point average.  Charline was also named Jefferson College’s Who’s Who and made the Dean’s List both years.

During Johnston’s career at Hannibal High School, she earned 12 NCMC Academic awards and graduated in the top 13% of her class.  She started and played softball on the varsity squad all four years and was nominated for team captain for two years.  She made three All-Conference Honors and two All-District Honors.  Johnston has played softball since the age of six.  At the age of 12, Johnston began playing travel ball under the coaching of Ed Givan.  With his guidance, she went to four National Championships across the country and won a state title.

Trisha Thompson joins the Vikings' coaching staff this year.  She graduated high school from Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona.  After graduating, she played softball for the Webster University Gorloks, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in three years.  She is now studying for her Masters of Science in Sports Management at Missouri Baptist University.  She currently works as a FIT professional at FLEET FEET Sports, as well.

Trisha's coaching focus is on working with pitchers and catchers.  In high school, her club teams made several appearances at Nationals, and produced a winning title in the summer of 2007.  She was named to the State Honors team her senior year of high school when coached under Bobby Pena.  While in college, Webster's The Journal announced Trisha as the winner of "The Best performance" her sophomore year due to two no hitters thrown and finishing the season with 113 strikeouts.  She also holds several records in the pitching category which includes most season strikeouts at 175, most strikeouts thrown in a single game with 18, and all-time high of 352 career strikeouts, and she is tied for first with 15 career shutouts.  She was SLIAC "Player of the Week" three time, was selected as an All-Tournament Team Player as a freshman, and has been selected as an All-Conference Team Player, twice.  She was also nominated to represent the United States to play in the Czech Republic and Italy.
