Game Time Moved (5/9/08)
Jefferson's opening round game against Meramec, in the Region XVI
baseball tournament, has been changed to 3:30. The game will now be
played on the campus of Mineral Area College.
Jeffco Faces Rival in Opening Round (5/5/08)
Jefferson baseball picked up a number two seed in this week's Region
XVI tournament. The defending champs take on their league rival, the
Magic of Meramec, in the opening round. Game time is scheduled for
4:30 on Wednesday, at Park Hills, on the campus of Mineral Area College.

Becker Signs with Creighton (5/3/08)
Outfielder Nick Becker signed a letter of intent to play with Creighton
University for the 2009 baseball season. The sophomore, from Vianney
High School, finished the regualr season hitting .423 with 20 doubles,
3 triples, 7 home runs, and 37 RBI.
Becker becomes Jeffco baseball's sixth student athlete to commit with a four year school, including the third to do so with an NCAA Division-1
institution.

SOCCER
Jefferson's Dantas and Monroe's Knight Take DI Men's Player of the Week Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 31, 2007) - Claudio Dantas (Jefferson College) and Tim Knight (Monroe Community College) have been named NJCAA Men's Division I Soccer Players of the Week for contests ending Oct. 28. Dantas is the offensive player of the week, while Knight is this week's defensive/goalkeeper of the week.
Dantas, a native of Deerfield Beach, Fla., scored the winning goals in both overtime Region 16 playoff games giving Jefferson College its third region title in the college's three year history of men's soccer. He netted the game winner in a 2-1 overtime victory over St. Louis Community College - Forest Park and then followed that by scoring the deciding goal in a 2-1 double-overtime win over St. Louis Community College - Meramec in the Region 16 title game.
Stephen Peck, Jr. Named NSCAA Coach of the Year
After leading his team to a record of 21-3-2 and the 2006 NJCAA Division I national title in only the second year of the program’s existence, Jefferson College Head Soccer Coach Stephen Peck, Jr. has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas 2006 National Coach of the Year honor.
In the post-season, Jefferson College outscored its opponents 26-6, concluding with a 2-1 overtime victory over Mercer County Community College.
This is Peck’s second National Coach of the Year award, having won it in 2003 while at East Central College. For information about the Coach of the Year honor, visit www.nscaa.com

Today's game against Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey, IL, has been cancelled.
Vikings Take Two (4/2/08)
Jefferson softball won both games of a double header on Wednesday, as the Vikings defeated Florissant Valley Community College in a conference outing. In the first game, Natalie Sago, Jenna Walter and Angie Fitzwater combined to throw seven scoreless innings, striking out six in a 5-0 win. Sago, the freshman from Farmington High School, picked up her second collegiate win. Jefferson scored one run in the first and four in the fourth and was led by left fielder Nicole Ostertag’s three hits including a two-run home run.
In the nightcap, freshman Kalie Hughes, starting her first collegiate game, threw three innings for the Vikings. The offense was led by Caitlin McCollum. She hit a bases clearing double to give the Vikings the lead in their 9-6 victory. Sasha Chapman picked up her first collegiate victory of the year after pitching three innings in relief. Sophomore right hander Jenna Walter pitched a scoreless seventh to collect the first save of her career.
Jefferson Drops Two at Meramec Invitational (3/30/08)
The Jefferson softball team dropped both games Saturday of the Meramec Invitational against Indian Hills and Meramec CC by the scores of 9-1 and 5-0. The Vikings were to return to action on Sunday but due to rain the games were cancelled.
Vikings Sweep East Central (3/24/08)
The Lady Vikings picked up wins number eight and nine with a sweep over East Central in a MCCAC double header. In the first game Jenna Walter (6-0) pitched the Lady Vikings to a 4-0 win. In the second game Angie Fitzwater (2-3) pitched the Lady Vikings to a 6-2 win. The Jefferson College Softball team is currently 9-4 overall and 1-1 in Region XVI play.
Vikings go 4-0 at McKendree Tournament (3/22/08)
After outscoring their opponents 29-13 on Saturday, the Jefferson softball team moved to 7-4 on the season with four straight victories in the McKendree University JV Tournament.
The Vikings pounded conference rival Forest Park 21-11 in the first game Saturday and later defeated the McKendree JV 8-2.
Jefferson went 2-0 the day before with victories over Southwestern Illinois Central 6-1 and 6-2 over McKendree University JV.
Sophomore Jenna Walter recorded her fifth win of the season. Freshman hurler Natalie Sago picked up her first win of the season. The Vikings pounded 21 extra base hits, including four home runs and seventeen doubles during the tournament.
Jefferson third baseman Marissa Hoehn hit a home run and collected six doubles while going an incredible 12 for 16 for the tournament. Tori Long, Kristi Gmerek and Molly Currington each had home runs to lead the Vikings attack.
Jefferson will play its home opener Monday, March 24 against East Central. First pitch of game one is set for 2 p.m.

Former Viking Named to the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame
Former Jefferson College Volleyball All-American, Pavlina Steffkova, has been named to the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The inductee ceremony and ring presentation will take place at the National Tournament Team/Hall of Fame banquet in Council Bluffs, Iowa immediately following the National Tournament opening ceremonies.
After playing for Jefferson College and earning All-Conference, All-Region and All-American honors, Pavlina earned a scholarship to play for the University of Texas. She is now the head volleyball coach at Birmingham Southern University in Alabama.
2007 Conference Championship
Congratulations to the 2007 Jefferson College Volleyball team for winning the 2007 Conference Championship. Also Head Coach JoEllen Stringer was named MCCAC Coach of the Year.
