We are celebrating this election year by paying tribute to some of the highest caliber artists from all over our great nation!
With the east coast offerings of yMusic (edgy chamber group recently on tour with Ben Folds), Paris Monster (Brooklyn’s most inventive, mesmerizing rock duo), the Donny McCaslin Group (featured on David Bowie’s acclaimed album “Blackstar”), and the Grammy award-winning Casey Benjamin (of the Robert Glasper Experiment), we are bringing the eclectic artistry of the “Big Apple” to you!
The west coast is represented through a mini-residency with rising filmmaker and actor, Brendan Brandt, who presents his thought-provoking documentary about a cancer patient who made public his decision to end his own life. Tackling difficult issues, his film will provide a forum for discussion and reflection during the post-show Q&A that is sure to be engaging.
The Midwest is represented with St. Louis Public Radio “Tiny Desk Concert” award-winners, Mt. Thelonious, the Big Muddy Dance Company (back by popular demand!), a visit from one of the chamber groups formed by members of the Grammy award-winning St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and a special evening with the creator of the hugely popular Humans of St. Louis, Lindy Drew, who will be working on a year-long initiative at the college called The Empathy Project. Her efforts will be focused on spreading a message of understanding and love, illustrated by the hundreds of photos and stories she has collected from all over St. Louis.
Finally, our college itself will be showcased as we continue to present some of the best student and community talent in the region through our choir, band and jazz concerts, and the moving, hilarious and fun productions of our acclaimed theatre department.
We hope you enjoy our most ambitious PACE season to date!
